WOW
Alright folks...so remember when i said that i may not be coming home from this Europe trip? oh ya...RIGHT...well it is becoming more and more realistic! holy crap, so far this trip is amazing and i am only 2+ days ( i know, it is only the beginning, but DAMN, so far so good!) in.
So the trip started off right when we went UP the stairs on United flight 900 from SFO to FRA...oh yes, i said UPSTAIRS! for those of you who have not flown business class, it is a treat! they serve you champagne BEFORE you even take off! OK OK OK, enough about the plane ride, but that IS when the trip began for me!
We landed in Frankfurt 11 hours after we took off (but because we were flying in style it did not feel like an 11 hour flight), got our bags and went to the train station, purchased our tickets for Heidelberg, Germany and in 15 minutes we were off! The first train trip was only about an hour when we got to Manheim (and oh yes, i had to remind kate oh 5-10 times what the name of the town was) to switch trains. Back on the train from Manheim to Heidelberg for another 30 minutes or so. Well, apparently the name Heidelberg is mentioned in the stop before we were supposed ot get off and no one really mentioned that to us...so Kate and I felt the need to get off...good thing for us, we decided a second too late and there was a gorl with a bike in front of me that gave me the death look as i tried to around her to get off the train ( a stop early BTW). perhaps it was a SIGN! needless to say, we stayed on the train for one more stop (OUR STOP...THE RIGHT STOP) and away we were! A short waalk later and we were at our hotel! little shower to wake up and off exploring we went! for those of you as unfamiliar with Heidelberg as i was, it has one of the oldest universities in all of Germany which essentially makes it a college town with HISTORY. There were a lot of students cruising around on bikes, i felt right back in isla vista. we walked around for a good portion of the day including a trip to the Heidelberg castle. The castle as i put it to Josh and Kate is "some old shit". portions of the castle have fallen but is still amazing, not to mention the fact that it is situated up on this hill that%2
